GobyMeds | Navigating the Tirzepatide Shortage

What’s Happening:
- FDA's Decision to Remove Tirzepatide from the Drug Shortage List: On October 2, 2024, the FDA removed tirzepatide (the active ingredient in Mounjaro and Zepbound) from the shortage list, which has resulted in a wave of changes affecting access to compounded Tirzepatide. This means that compounding pharmacies, which have provided a more affordable option for so many, are no longer allowed to continue making the medication.
- Cease-and-Desist Letters from Eli Lilly: Just days after the FDA’s announcement, Eli Lilly sent hundreds of cease-and-desist notices to companies, including GobyMeds, demanding an end to the production and sale of compounded tirzepatide. This move has put thousands of patients in a difficult position, potentially losing access to the medication they’ve come to rely on. (Us included!)
Our Response For Now
- New Orders for Tirzepatide: Starting today, we’re putting a temporary pause on new orders of tirzepatide while we work with our legal council on how to proceed. We’re committed to finding a path forward to continue to provide easy access to GLP-1 meds. We are working in the background on a solution to this problem as we speak.
- Semaglutide is Still Available: In the mean time, we are still offering semaglutide at $249 per month in all dosages, with multi-month options available soon. We know it’s not the same as tirzepatide for many of you, but we’re here to support you with the resources we have.

What's Going On Behind The Scenes!
We’re actively working on solutions to keep options open:
- Exploring Alternative Formulations: Our pharmacy partners are investigating safe ways to compound tirzepatide, possibly by incorporating additional components such as vitamins (e.g., B12 + B3).
- Sublingual Tirzepatide Could be Coming Soon: Our partner pharmacy is developing a sublingual version of tirzepatide, which may become available in the coming weeks.
- Multi-Month Orders by Mid-October: We are aiming to introduce multi-month packages soon to help with securing a consistent supply.
